On Monday 9th February, the National Student Survey (NSS) 2015 launched here at Newcastle. Now in its eleventh year, the NSS is your opportunity to give your opinions on what you liked about your time here as well as things that you felt could have been improved. The survey is run at all Higher and Further Education institutions across the UK, and student feedback is used to compile year on year comparative data.
Results are publicly available to prospective students and advisors to help make informed choices of where and what to study. In addition, Newcastle uses results
internally to facilitate best practice and enhance the student learning experience.
Both you and your answers remain anonymous at all times and your contact details are only used for the purpose of the survey.
NSS 2014 indicated that 91% of Newcastle University's students were satisfied or very satisfied with their degree programme. Out of a total 46 subject areas, 33 were at or exceeded 90% overall satisfaction, with two scoring a full 100%.
The results of NSS 2014 placed Newcastle joint 6th among ‘full service’ universities (excluding small and specialist colleges), and joint 2nd within the Russell Group.

All subject areas at Newcastle University see their results and students' open comments and then consider what changes to make to degree programmes to further enhance their students' experience. If your DPD has not explained to you what changes have been made in response to previous cohorts of students - then please ask!
