On Monday 4th February 2013, the National Student Survey (NSS) 2013 will launch here at Newcastle. Entering its ninth year, the NSS is your opportunity to give your opinions on what you liked about your time here as well as things that you felt could have been improved. The survey is run at all Higher and Further Education institutions across the UK, and student feedback is used to compile year on year comparative data.
Results are publicly available to prospective students and advisors to help make informed choices of where and what to study. In addition, Newcastle uses results
internally to facilitate best practice and enhance the student learning experience.
You and your answers remain anonymous at all times and your contact details are only used for the purpose of the survey.
NSS 2012 indicated that 89% of Newcastle University's students were satisfied or very satisfied with their degree programme. 25 subject areas achieved scores at or over 90%, while 9 subject areas were ranked in the top 5 of similar programmes across the country.
The results of NSS 2012 placed Newcastle joint 14th in the country, and joint 10th within the Russell Group and 94 Group of institutions.

All subject areas at Newcastle University see their results and students' open comments and then consider what changes to make to degree programmes to further enhance their students' experience. If your DPD has not explained to you what changes have been made in response to previous cohorts of students - then please ask!
