Hadrian's Wall: Life on the Roman Frontier

This six week course will give you an introduction to the archaeology of the most heavily fortified frontier in the Roman Empire and its people.

The course is led by Professor Ian Haynes, and will look at issues such as:

  • colonisation
  • cultural transformation
  • immigration
  • integration
  • imperialism

You'll also have the opportunity to learn how archaeologists interpret evidence, including excavation techniques and methods used to detect settlement locations.
