ESPON Climate Project Success

Newcastle University’s ESPON project influences European Environment Agency Report on Climate Change, Impacts and Vulnerability in Europe

The ESPON climate project, Climate Change and Territorial Effects on Regions and Local Economies in Europe, in which Newcastle University is a partner, has been heavily drawn upon and cited in a report on climate change published by the European EnvironmentAgency (EEA).

The report, Climate change, impacts and vulnerability in Europe 2012, will be translated into all EU languages and is available at the following link:

The ESPON climate project involved a consortium of 13 partners, led by TU Dortmund University. The Principal Investigator at Newcastle is Professor Simin Davoudi, School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape. As well as having her work cited in the main EEA report, including a Global Urban Research Unit (GURU) working paper, Professor Davoudi is listed as a contributor to the report, e.g. under acknowledgments on Tourism, page 13. The EEA report will inform the European Commission’s European Adaptation Strategy to be published in March 2013:
