Go Smarter Business Network

Overview

The Go Smarter Business Network is a regional sustainable travel working group aiming to encourage, promote and influence the use of sustainable modes of travel when accessing health, employment, education and leisure in Tyne and Wear.

Key local businesses and organisations meet quarterly to discuss travel plan coordinating, public transport services, cycle strategy or any relevant sustainable travel topic that would benefit from being discussed/bringing in a key speaker or representative.

The Network meet to share ideas and best practice, collaborating information and/or data. It also helps to raise awareness of new initiatives, events, services etc.

Purpose of the group

  • Developing strategic approaches to enable, promote and maintain sustainable travels for everyone travelling to partnership sites.
  • Reduce car traffic and congestion associated with partnership sites – protecting the environment and improving road safety.
  • Form partners to collaborate improving access to sustainable travel, making sure options provide value for money.
  • Information gathering through surveys and data collection.
  • Raising the profile of sustainable travel issues with members – to influence key policy and strategic decision making in the region.
