Timetable (Syllabus Plus) Weeks and Teaching Weeks
Some teaching at Newcastle University starts early in the year (July) and before the start of the formal academic year, and for this reason we consider this the first week available to use in the teaching timetable (Week 1 on Syllabus Plus). Because of this, by the time the new academic year has started in September/October several weeks have passed in the teaching timetable (Syllabus Plus) and the first week of University teaching = week 12 in Syllabus Plus the University timetabling system, teaching week 2 = S+ week 13, and so on.

Please note that the timetable week numbers for academic year 2012_13 have changed:
Induction week = 4
Semester 1 = 5-15, 19
Semester 2 = 22-28, 33-37
