About transportNewcastle
Transport technology is one of the central multidisciplinary themes in research and consultancy at Newcastle University.
The University has transport technology research expertise in all modes but particularly in:
- marine technology
- rail technology
- low-carbon vehicles
- intelligent transport
We intend to capitalise on our knowledge and experience by coordinating transport technology research at the University level under the banner transportNewcastle.
This will enable the University to combine its strengths to address transport issues regionally, nationally and internationally in a more coordinated way. This will promote our vision 'To be Europe's leading transport technology research University'.
Teaching
Undergraduate and postgraduate students have an opportunity to register for accredited degrees in transport-related streams. Teaching in schools is supported by internationally recognised and industrially relevant research and by specialised facilities.
Working with industry
transportNewcastle researchers have extensive experience of industrial collaboration, especially in the North East region. They have business, consultancy and analytic capabilities, and a wide range of laboratories and testing facilities.
