transport Newcastle, from Newcastle University, participated in the UK Transport in Europe (UKTiE) 2nd Annual Forum in the European Parliament, Brussels, on 8 and 9 November 2011, with keynote speeches from: Brian Simpson MEP; Jacqueline Foster MEP; Andrew Haines, Chief Executive, Civil Aviation Authority; Steve Gooding, Director General, Domestic Group at Department for Transport; and Kier Fitch, Deputy Head of the Siim Kallas Cabinet (with responsibility for the new Transport White Paper). The Forum discussed the new EU Transport White Paper and examined in detail the 40 specific proposals for EU action and legislation. It was good for Newcastle University to be seen by leading UK transport stakeholders as a successful research institution.
