Student expeditions, organised by and for students, are an excellent way of travelling the world and applying your knowledge - or building on it with new experiences.
Newcastle is recognised by The Royal Geographical Society (RGS) and the Institute of British Geographers (IBG) as one of the most expedition-active universities in the UK.
Students are responsible for developing their own research objectives, team building and fundraising activities - overseen by the University Expedition Committee, which can award official status and funding towards the expedition.
Our students have travelled to countries all over the world, including Cuba, Papua New Guinea, Peru, Cameroon, Greenland, Zambia, Seychelles, Kazakhstan and the Indian Himalayas.
They have carried out research projects on tropical diseases, big game hunting, medicinal plants, nursing care, melting glaciers, polluted rivers and the sociology of forest tribes and nomadic peoples.
