Admissions tutors in all subject areas consider applicants who wish to defer entry by one year. Some students choose to gain wider experience and increased maturity by taking a year out to perhaps gain work experience, travel abroad or complete GAP projects.
Simply indicate on your UCAS application how you expect to spend the year.
You can apply for deferred entry while you are still at school or college or you can decide after submitting your UCAS application. If you do, you must write to tell us of your change of intention. You can also outline plans for the year at this stage.
You may also apply after you receive your exam results. If you do this, make sure that you are contactable during the year out. You may need to accept or decline offers and answer any queries relating to your application.
