A degree alone is no longer enough to guarantee graduate success. That's why we're committed to promoting a full range of social, cultural, sporting and community activities that give you chance to develop skills and knowledge outside your course.
We've brought all these activities together in our University-wide skills initiative, ncl+.
ncl+ opportunities are not just about enhancing your CV, they're also about having fun, meeting new people, trying new experiences, taking responsibility and growing in confidence. They include activities such as:
- improving your language skills
- coaching a sports team
- working on a student newspaper
- leading a student society
Graduate skills
Each skill offered through ncl+ is part of the Newcastle Graduate Skills Framework. The Framework was developed with employers to define a set of skills which, when added to your degree, will give you the skills you will need in your life beyond university.
Funding for your own project
It is also possible to obtain funding for an activity that will boost your personal or professional development. Previous projects that have received funding include:
- community health education project
- digital art project involving asylum seekers
