Work Experience

A student on a work placement Work experience is a valuable step towards getting a job when you graduate.

Many of our degrees offer a work placement as part of your degree. You can also build work experience into your university experience through various University initiatives.

Some of the opportunities currently available are:

JobsOC (Jobs on Campus)

This scheme matches students with temporary or casual work assignments on campus, to help you gain skills, experience and confidence.

Newcastle Student Ambassador Scheme

Join our team of ambassadors and support a wide range of activities for prospective students.

Newcastle Work Experience Scheme

Undertake a paid work placement, in either term time and/or during the summer vacation, with a local business. With around 130 term time and summer placements each year, this is a fantastic way to boost your CV whilst studying.

Passport to Work

Gain unpaid work experience and work shadowing in the hospitality, customer service and retail sectors.

Student media

Newcastle University Students' Union has its own student newspaper, radio and TV station, which are run by and for students.
