Drawing on the University’s strengths in teaching and research in biomedicine, this degree offers an excellent programme of study to equip you with the scientific, experimental and critical skills valued in many graduate careers.
The overall aim of the course is to produce graduates who have an understanding of the functioning of the human body in health and disease.
Our degrees are divided into Stages. Each Stage lasts for an academic year and you need to complete modules totalling 120 credits by the end of each Stage.
This Stage is shared by all of our biomedical and biomolecular sciences degrees so you can change from one degree to another after Stage 1 if you wish. See our guide to choosing the right degree for you.
You may also apply to transfer to Medicine or Dentistry (places are available on a competitive basis).
We encourage you to undertake a work placement in the summer vacation after Stage 2 to develop work-based skills. We offer part-time paid employment during term time in laboratories in our research institutes to a number of our second-year students. You may also undertake a year out in industry at the end of Stage 2.
You take one module from the following list:
The modules listed here are those currently being taught in this academic year and may vary for your year of entry.
