Zoology is the scientific study of animals, including how they behave, reproduce, evolve interact with other species and interact with their environment.
Our increasingly sophisticated knowledge of animal biology is vital for us to understand how human activities impact the environment. Also, by understanding how animals work, we can pick up important clues about how our own bodies function.
You can choose to take the career development module, which allows you to gain academic credit for work undertaken in a local school, volunteering activities or a part-time job.
You can also look forward to excellent teaching and student support from a subject that is ranked in the top ten nationally for student satisfaction having achieved an 88 per cent satisfaction score in the 2011 National Student Survey.
Our degrees are divided into Stages. Each Stage lasts for an academic year and you need to complete modules totalling 120 credits by the end of each Stage.

This first year programme of study is shared with Biology (C100), Ecology and Environmental Biology (C180) and Cellular and Molecular Biology (C1C7), allowing for easy transfer to any of these before the second year.
