This degree is designed for students who wish to pursue a career in structural engineering.
While it does not prevent you from working in other areas of civil engineering, you will be well placed to go on to design and build the structures that are central to our infrastructure such as bridges and buildings. Your work may even take you in to designing industrial systems and specialist structures such as oil platforms and aircraft frames.
Our degrees are divided into Stages. Each Stage lasts for an academic year and you need to complete modules totalling 120 credits by the end of each Stage.
Students who have achieved an average of 55 per cent in their Stage 2 assessments may also apply to transfer to our Civil and Structural Engineering MEng Honours degree for the remaining two years.
The Engineering Council (UK) recommends that UK and EU students apply for the MEng degree as this is seen as the most direct route to becoming professionally qualified.
The modules listed here are those currently being taught in this academic year and may vary for your year of entry.
