This degree programme covers all the material necessary to become a civil engineer.

You will also develop a valuable combination of technical ability, critical judgement, communication skills and intellectual qualities.

We offer this degree at Master's level (MEng) and Bachelor's level (BEng). The Engineering Council (UK) recommends that UK and EU students apply for the MEng degree as this is seen as the most direct route to becoming professionally qualified.

Our degrees are divided into Stages. Each Stage lasts for an academic year and you need to complete modules totalling 120 credits by the end of each Stage.

The first two Stages of this degree are shared with our Civil and Structural Engineering degree. It may be possible to transfer to this degree at the end of Stage 2 should you decide that you wish to specialise in structures for your remaining two years instead of environmental, geotechnical, transport or water resources engineering.
