This degree focuses on the design, production and operation of ships and other marine vehicles.
Further optional specialisation is possible. The individual design project in Stage 3 also provides an opportunity to develop creative skills in an area of your choice.
We have good experimental facilities, including a model-testing tank, extensive computing facilities and the largest commercial propeller test tunnel in the country.
Our three-year BEng degree provides you with a firm foundation in this exciting subject area. For those wishing to study in more depth, our four-year MEng degree includes a combined group project and report and the opportunity to study further advanced modules in naval architecture.
Our degrees are divided into Stages. Each Stage lasts for an academic year and you need to complete modules totalling 120 credits by the end of each Stage.
All of our Marine Technology degrees share the same study programme in the first year. This means you can transfer between all of our Marine Technology MEng and BEng degrees up to the end of Stage 1, subject to satisfactory academic achievement.
