This degree was introduced as a response to the upsurge in the leisure boat market, the increasing variety of high-speed passenger craft and work boats. It also came in response to indications by industry that greater numbers of technically qualified graduates are required.
Many students are attracted to these degrees through their interest in sailing.
Our three-year BEng degree provides you with a firm foundation in this exciting subject area. For those wishing to study in more depth, our four-year MEng degree includes a combined group project and report and the opportunity to study further advanced modules in small craft technology.
Our degrees are divided into Stages. Each Stage lasts for an academic year and you need to complete modules totalling 120 credits by the end of each Stage.
All of our Marine Technology degrees share the same study programme in the first year. This means you can transfer between all of our Marine Technology MEng and BEng degrees up to the end of Stage 1, subject to satisfactory academic achievement.
You take 20 credits of the following optional modules:
The modules listed here are those currently being taught in this academic year and may vary for your year of entry.
