Electronics and Computer Engineering BEng Honours UCAS Code: H652 (3 years)School of Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering

This degree is tailored to the needs of information engineers. It covers both discrete information handling and continuous signal electronics. The main emphasis is on the design of large systems including both their software and hardware aspects.

You will gain an understanding of the link between hardware and software in modern information systems. This involves a wide range of study from the theory of computation, computer methods and information processing, through to the design of electronic circuitry and the application of modern electronics.

We offer this degree at Bachelor's (BEng) and Master's (MEng) level. Our Bachelor's level (BEng) degree is professionally accredited and highly rated but you will have to undertake some further study in your career to become a Chartered Engineer.

The Engineering Council UK recommends that UK and EU students apply for the MEng degree as this is seen as the most direct route to becoming professionally qualified.

BEng students follow the same programme of study for the first two years as our MEng students. This means you may transfer to the MEng at the end of Stage 2 if you wish to, depending on your academic performance.

Our degrees are divided into Stages. Each Stage lasts for an academic year and you need to complete modules totalling 120 credits by the end of each Stage.
