Chemical Engineering MEng Honours UCAS Code: H813 (4 years)Chemical Engineering MEng Honours Option
School of Chemical Engineering and Advanced Materials

This degree covers all the main areas of chemical engineering and allows you to study a wide choice of topics within the discipline.

Rather than specialising at Stage 4, this degree programme continues to follow a broad base of topics providing you with a thorough overview of the field.

Design projects throughout the programme allow you to apply this knowledge in a practical real-life context, and to develop the planning and teamworking skills valued by employers.

All of our Chemical Engineering degrees offer you the opportunity to gain valuable workplace skills and knowledge by choosing to take an optional year out in industry after Stage 2 or Stage 3.

We offer this degree at Master's (MEng) and Bachelor's (BEng) level. The Engineering Council (UK) recommends that UK and EU students apply for the MEng degree as this is seen as the most direct route to becoming professionally qualified.

Our degrees are divided into Stages. Each Stage lasts for an academic year and you need to complete modules totalling 120 credits by the end of each Stage.

Year in industry (optional)

You may choose to take an optional year out in industry after Stage 2 or 3.

This will enable you to earn a salary and equip you with key skills such as teamworking and problem solving that will make you stand out in the graduate job market.

The work you do during this year does not count directly towards your degree mark and so your year out is in addition the usual length of your programme, extending your degree to five years.

Alternatively, you can apply to transfer to our IChemE accredited Industry degree, which integrates an accredited, paid work placement into Stage 3 of your programme.
