Sociology helps us understand the social processes that shape people’s lives around the world. Through this degree you will explore how the social world is organised, its divisions and inequalities, social change and the social shaping of identities.
You will also learn to see the world from a sociological perspective - a critically engaged point of view that allows you to interpret and analyse the world in new and insightful ways.
The course combines sociology and social anthropology to address a range of topics. As the course continues you will have increasing opportunities to choose specialist topics. You can also pursue wider interests by selecting modules from related social science subjects (politics, geography) and beyond, including modern languages.
Our degrees are divided into Stages. Each Stage lasts for an academic year and you need to complete modules totalling 120 credits by the end of each Stage.
You also take 20 credits in other subject areas offered by the University.
