This degree offers an exciting opportunity to study and research media, communication and culture. It covers a wide range of approaches, including media studies; film and television studies; psychoanalysis; cultural studies; and the investigation of heritage (eg museums, galleries and public exhibition spaces).

This degree is also about becoming a professional in communications - someone able to apply critical thinking and theoretical knowledge; carry out practical evaluations; and offer imaginative solutions through high quality verbal, visual and written communication.

You have the opportunity to develop expertise in a chosen area of study and will become a professional communicator, applying your knowledge and understanding in a range of employment-related contexts.

Our degrees are divided into Stages. Each Stage lasts for an academic year and you need to complete modules totalling 120 credits by the end of each Stage.

Stage 1

This first year introduces you the theoretical and practical tools to examine the relationships we have with media forms and practices, and with communications industries and the cultural and heritage sector.
