+ A Levels

AAB including Mathematics and preferably Physics or other scientific subjects but excluding General Studies and Critical Thinking. GCSE Physics or Dual Award Science (minimum grade B) required if not offered at A or AS level.

+ Scottish Qualifications

AAB at Advanced Higher including Mathematics and preferably Physics or other scientific subjects. Higher Physics required at grade B if not offered at Advanced Higher.

+ International Baccalaureate

35 points with Mathematics and preferably Physics at Higher Level grade 5 or above. Physics required at Standard Level grade 6 or above if not offered at Higher Level.

+ Irish Leaving Certificate

Candidates will normally only be considered for foundation year entry. Applications will be considered on an individual basis.

+ Access Qualifications

In a relevant area of engineering or physical science. At least 20 level 3 credits in Mathematics at Distinction including differential and integral calculus. At least 25 level 3 credits in analytical engineering sciences (e.g. Mechanical or Electrical Science/Principles, Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, Electronics etc), ten of which to be achieved at Distinction and the remainder at a minimum of Merit. Remaining credits preferred in Design, IT/CAD and other practical skill-based subjects.

+ BTEC Level 5 HND

Overall Merit and Distinction grades with Distinctions in mathematics and science units. Units must include both Analytical Methods and Further Analytical Methods or equivalent. Students studying the HND outside the UK, and who have studied subjects corresponding in syllabus and level to Stage 1 of the degree and with Distinction in Mathematics and other engineering subjects, may be considered for Stage 2 entry.

+ BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma (formerly BTEC National Diploma)

Candidates will be considered for Foundation Year entry only. Please see Engineering with Foundation Year for specific entrance requirements.

+ Cambridge Pre-U

D3, D3, M2 in Principal Subjects including Mathematics and preferably Physics or other scientific subjects. GCSE Physics or Dual Award Science (minimum grade B) required if not offered at a higher level.

+ Foundation Year

If you don’t have the right mathematics and/or science qualifications for direct entry, you can take a Civil Engineering Foundation Year:

This will provide you with the knowledge you need to progress to one of our three- or four-year Civil Engineering degrees.

+ English Language Requirements

For this degree you will need a minimum score of IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.
