I chose Newcastle because it is ranked very highly for my course. As well as being an excellent university, the city of Newcastle is beautiful and teeming with culture, while being compact and affordable: the perfect combination for a student.
Studying at Newcastle
The design work is a highlight of the course. You get to work closely with peers and use the advanced facilities available to students. Working in the 24 hour studio is preferable to working at home, because you can easily get a second opinion on your work.
All of our tutors and professors are highly qualified, helpful and very interesting to listen to. They are also highly professional and maintain teaching materials to a high standard.
It’s a top five university for Architecture in the best city in the world! If you aren’t sold, come visit on one of the open days, you definitely won’t regret it.
Living in Newcastle
Life in Newcastle is great! It’s very much a student city, very compact and affordable. The city is always lively and fun too, there’s never a dull moment.
I'm currently living in Jesmond, it was very easy to sort out, just a matter of choosing housemates and walking into a letting agency. I previously lived in Windsor Terrace, which was maintained to an excellent standard and I met a lot of lifelong friends there.
Managing my money
Buy meat, fruit and vegetables from Grainger Market! Fresh as ever, and cheaper than big supermarkets. Also supports the local economy.
I aspire towards a career in Urban Design or Planning. This course has helped me gather the skills necessary for the job, and the Careers Service has been very helpful with giving me tips on my CV and cover letter for job applications.
