Economics at Newcastle covers economic theory and policy relating to issues in Britain, Europe and around the world, developing graduates who can address the economic problems facing society today.
Our Economics and Business Management BA Honours degree combines study of the key concepts, tools and techniques of economics with a thorough understanding of business.
You will develop an understanding of economic issues in modern society and of the global and national settings in which economic activities take place.
You will gain the analytical tools, concepts and quantitative techniques necessary to understand modern economics and to be able to identify problems, predict outcomes and evaluate policies.
We place a strong emphasis on gaining practical, real-world business experience, through the use of case study-led teaching and work placement opportunities with globally recognised companies. This balance of theory and practice prepares you for a wide range of careers in business.
Modules are taught via lectures and seminars. Assessment is mainly through unseen examinations at the end of each semester. However, a proportion of your marks will also be based on in-course assessment of essays and projects.
Teaching and assessment methods may vary from module to module; more information can be found in our individual module listings.
