Our degrees are divided into Stages. Each Stage lasts for an academic year and you need to complete modules totalling 120 credits by the end of each Stage.

Please be aware that programme modules do change and therefore may differ for your year of entry.

Stage 1

Compulsory modules

Optional modules

You take 40 credits of language modules. Your choice of Level A or Level B language modules will depend on your previous experience in your chosen language.

Level A language modules (which must be taken in pairs)

• JPN1004 Level A Japanese II

• FRE1065 Level A French General Language I
• FRE1066 Level A French General Language II

• SPA1065 Level A Spanish General Language I
• SPA1066 Level A Spanish General Language II

Level B language modules

For students with an A level (or equivalent) in their chosen language.

• JPN2001 Level B Japanese

• FRE1071 Level B French General Language

• GER1071 Level B German General Language

• SPA1071 Level B Spanish General Language

Students taking Level B French, German or Spanish also take the following module:

• SML1023 Language Project for Students of International Business Management

Stage 2

Stage 3 (study abroad/work placement)

You spend the whole year in a country where your chosen language is spoken, either studying at a partner university or on a work placement. Alternatively you can choose to undertake a combination of the two.

You also take the following modules:

Stage 4
