About me

Choosing Newcastle

Newcastle University Business School, together with the Career Service, offers a lot of support for business students in terms of personal growth and career development. The School truly thinks about what students need and equips them accordingly with the skill sets in their respective industry.

Recommending Business Management

I really like the fact that there is a good mix of arts and science modules and also the flexibility of being able to choose the modules to match your interests. Your learning is very much your own responsibility and these options allowed me to structure my own learning based on my area of interest and time. My favourite module has to be Business Enterprise.

Studying at Newcastle

The lecturers are really dedicated to teaching. They don't just want you to learn the knowledge of their modules – they want you to learn how to think critically by providing thought-provoking questions. Without this guidance, I wouldn't have been able to form my own arguments and opinions within these subjects.

Living in Newcastle

I love the city. It's small enough so everywhere is within walking distance and being a ‘student city’ you get to see familiar faces everywhere even outside the Business School. People are so friendly and it’s just an amazing experience on the whole.

I am staying at Liberty Plaza. Accommodation was sorted out online when I was doing my application in Singapore. There were very clear guidelines and everything was fuss-free. Liberty Plaza is just a two minute walk away from Newcastle University Business School. Facilities are really good and you get to stay with many other students from the University.

Future plans

I intend to gain as much work experiences as possible. Newcastle University has a great Careers Service and also with the help of Business Enterprise, I gained many skills that will definitely be very valuable for me when I step out into the workplace.

Attending networking events as well as entrepreneurship competitions forced me to get out of my comfort zone and sell our business idea to merchants, investors and consumers alike. It definitely built up my communication skills as well as my confidence.
