AAB-ABB. A proven ability in the study of a second language is preferred but not essential.
AAABB-AABBB at Higher Grade. Combinations of Highers and Advanced Highers accepted, including a foreign language at grade 2 Standard Grade (or Intermediate 2 equivalent).
A minimum of 35 points including a foreign language at Standard Level (Grade 5) if not offered at Higher Level.
A1A1A1B1B - A1A1B1B1B at Higher Level. A foreign language Ordinary Level at Grade A is also required if not offered at Higher Level.

You do not need any previous experience of studying Chinese or Japanese to apply for this degree. What is more important is enthusiasm for learning a language and an active interest in other cultures.
