Tuition Fees 2013 Entry

Newcastle University will be charging a tuition fee of £9,000 per year for new undergraduates who start University in September 2013.

• You will not have to pay any tuition fees up-front or while you are studying
• Student loans are available for eligible* students from the UK and EU – you only start to pay the loan back after you have graduated and are in employment and earning over £21,000.
• Some of our courses have different fee levels. See specific fees information per degree using our A-Z list of degrees
• Students who wish to study for a qualification that is at an equivalent level to, or lower level than, one that they have already been awarded may be liable to pay a higher rate of tuition fee

Additional course costs

Wherever possible we aim to minimise additional costs that students incur. However, some of our degrees involve costs that are not covered within our tuition fees. To make sure that you budget accurately for university life, please make sure that you read our policy on additional costs (available shortly). This outlines all costs that fall outside of your tuition fees as well as any support you can expect to receive towards them.

Living costs

You will need to allow around £8,000 a year to cover your living costs. This figure is for guidance only and will depend on your own personal spending patterns and money managing skills. See our guide to living costs.

Withholding of degree certificates for non-payment of fees

The University will withhold degree certification if tuition fees have not been paid. Please see University General Regulations (PDF: 69KB).

Newcastle University Access Agreement

Universities wishing to charge tuition fees of more than £6,000 per year have had to commit to an Access Agreement negotiated with the Office for Fair Access (OFFA) which sets out their commitments to widening participation and fair access.
