Newcastle University Access Scholarships 2014 Entry

 

A Newcastle University Access Scholarship of £500 per year is available to any UK student who meets one of the following criteria.

These scholarships are in addition to any government grants or loans which you may be receive. They do not have to be repaid.

Residual household income below £42,620 (as assessed by Student Finance England or equivalent assessing body)

AND one of the following:

 Cash bursary  £500 per year

Please note: This Scholarship is awarded in addition to a Newcastle University Opportunity Scholarship.

Applications

UK students will not need to apply separately for these scholarships because they will be awarded automatically to eligible students who have been income assessed by Student Finance England or equivalent UK funding body.

Scholarship Award Exclusions

There are a number of categories of students who are not eligible for the Access Scholarship:

  • If you are studying on a course that includes a year abroad or placement year as a compulsory part of your degree, you will not receive a scholarship for that year because you will receive a Newcastle University fee discount of £8,000 or a 'Placement Scholarship'
  • If you are studying for one of the following degrees, you will not receive a scholarship for those years for which your tuition fees will be funded by the NHS: the four-year Speech and Language Science degree; and the fifth year of the five-year Medicine or Dentistry programmes
  • If you are studying the four-year accelerated Medicine course for graduates or the 27 month Dental Hygiene and Therapy diploma you will not be eligible for a scholarship throughout your course
