If you are entering university in 2011 or earlier and take a leave of absence, or other break, which will delay your return to study until 2012, please read on to find out how the 2012 entry fees and funding changes will impact you.
This does not apply to students who are entering university in 2012 or later, for example, through deferred entry.
1. You will remain a student of the University and will continue to pay the lower fee until the end of your studies if you are:
2. You will fall under the 2012 fee conditions if you withdraw from your course of study at another university and apply to begin a new programme at Newcastle University.
However, if you complete a stage of study at another UK University and transfer to the subsequent stage of study at Newcastle University, you will be deemed to be continuing on a single coherent programme and, as such, will continue to pay the lower fee until the end of your studies.
If your transfer is part of a formal agreement (eg MBBS students who have completed Phase I of their course at Durham University’s Queen Campus, or Music students joining a Music degree from Newcastle College) you will will continue to pay the lower fee until the end of your studies.
3. If you are an EU student who has completed an English language course as a prerequisite for 2012 entry to a university degree (ie Pre-sessional English, with no university academic credit) with INTO Newcastle University, or if you come to Newcastle University from another INTO centre, you will fall under the 2012 Fee Conditions.
4. If you are an Architecture, Town Planning or other student fulfilling a professional accreditation requirement for work experience, you may take time out between your programmes of study and return on the lower fee (eg Architecture students between the BA and the BArch, who choose not to register for the Certificate). Please note:
5. There may be extenuating circumstances where further relief is appropriate. These will be decided on a case-by-case basis by the Academic Registrar.
