Students' Union
The Students' Union is run by students, for students!
It is run by six full-time, student sabbatical officers and 18 part-time officers. Their job is to represent you and help you make the most of your time here. Elections run throughout the year so if you’re interested in taking on a role why not get involved?

Societies, sports and getting involved
The Students' Union includes:
- over 140 student societies
- Athletic Union, which coordinates approximately 57 sports clubs
- The Courier, the student newspaper and TCTV (The Courier Television)
- Newcastle Student Radio
- a Student Advice Centre
- an evening minibus service to take students home on weekday evenings
- a community volunteering scheme, Student Communication Action (SCAN)
- Give It a Go Scheme - one off taster activities
- Raising and Giving (RAG) week - annual event devoted to fundraising
- ncl+ - University wide scheme of personal development
