1. To provide an introductory overview of the main subdivisions of general management theory and practice.
2. To understand the development of theory in organisational behaviour and its relation to management in organisations.
3. To introduce transferable skills used by practising managers to enhance their job performance and career prospects.
4. To develop knowledge and behaviours which are readily transferable into the management milieu and which will enhance the prospects of students in identifying and obtaining the sorts of employment which they feel will be most rewarding following their course of study.

1. Lectures are used to present the students with the knowledge base upon which they can develop their understanding of the subject area.
2. Seminars are used to help develop and test understanding of the knowledge base.
3. Seminars are used to develop an understanding of the practical implications of this knowledge base in specific situations.
4. Seminars are used to develop and practice essential management skills of analysis, synthesis, team work, time management, communication, presentation, decision making and problem solving.
