Newcastle is a compact city so it's easy to find a great place to eat. From coffee shops to traditional pubs and fine-food restaurants, there is a wide selection of venues across the city and in surrounding areas.

There are plenty of venues with a more international flavour including Japanese, Thai, Persian and Mongolian. Newcastle also has its own Chinatown.

The EAT! Festival serves up am exciting range of food events each year.

You can also take a five-minute Metro ride out to popular student suburb, Jesmond, where many restaurants offer happy hours and student discounts.

The NewcastleGateshead website has a directory of places to eat out in the city.

On campus

We have a range of University catering outlets offering hot meals, take-away sandwiches, salads and snacks. There is also a restaurant at Northern Stage situated opposite the Students' Union building.
