NewcastleGateshead has gained international recognition as a fantastic stage to showcase a huge variety of musical genres. The variety and versatility of its venues allow for fans of all types of music to find live performances through annual festivals or one-off concerts.

The Metro Arena and O2 Academy attract some of the world’s biggest music stars to the city and cater for all music tastes, with acts like Rihanna, Plan B, The Killers and Olly Murs.

Smaller venues such as The Cluny champion up-and-coming musicians, and the University’s LIVE in the King’s Hall series hosts performances from international musicians and our own students.

Newcastle has quickly emerged as an international hub for house, dubstep and electro music with nightclubs such as Digital, Cosmic Ballroom and The Den hosting weekly events with sets from world-famous guest DJs.

Just over the river is The Sage Gateshead, a £70 million futuristic music centre with an assortment of concert halls, practice areas and workshop rooms. Home to the Northern Sinfonia and Folkwolks, the Sage hosts performances to suit all tastes and also provides activities for you to join in and make music.

 Lovers of music can also find state-of-the-art studios and equipment on campus to fine tune their musical talents.
