Alice Speech and Language Sciences BSc Honours

Choosing Newcastle

It had the best reputation for our course. Everyone was so friendly and there’s so much going on in the city – and the cost of living is cheaper than many other cities!

Best thing about your course

I enjoy working on placements as student speech and language therapist applying all your theory and clinical skills to help real people. I enjoy the opportunity to work with specialists in the field and the chance to learn so many topics in a variety of settings (presentations, group debates etc)

Recommending Newcastle

I’d say definitely choose Newcastle, it’s such a friendly city with so much going on. The staff are specialists on their field and are always available to help. Learning takes places with a variety of methods to keep you engaged. I’d say definitely choose speech and language sciences: the opportunity to learn the theory and clinical skills to help real people is the best thing I've ever done.

Describing Newcastle

It’s such a fun place. Everything is within walking and cycling distance. There are always plays, comedy and talent shows to watch, besides great opportunities for sport. The nightlife is great and everyone is very friendly. Newcastle is a great place to live.

Clubs and societies at Newcastle

I think there are so many excellent clubs and societies; it’s really difficult to choose. I’ve been a member of the Irish Dancing Society (and had a great time dancing in shows) and am the Women’s Vice Captain of Ultimate Frisbee. The opportunities for friendship, fitness and travel the country for tournaments are second to none.

Living in Newcastle

It was easy to find somewhere to live. I live in Jesmond and we live in the first house we looked at.
