Choosing Newcastle

Newcastle offered exactly what I wanted from my course. On the open day I found Newcastle had a very friendly, honest and open atmosphere and I felt that I could easily fit in to this university. The University is great, with a diverse group of students, and I love my course. I also feel that the city is a great place.

Studying at Newcastle

The course offers a wide variety of topics that become more specific as you progress through years. There are six modules per semester and also lab and computer classes.

At the end of the first year there are also field courses, for which each individual can opt for different variations of the course.

Uni Facilities

I use the library which is well stocked and has a nice environment. My halls are not in the city centre so I find it hard to go in the library as often as I’d like.

I use the Blackboard facility which is an online storage system for my modules. I find it very useful to review my lectures and check what extra reading I can be doing.

Living in Newcastle

Newcastle is a very tidy, safe and friendly city. It has a great nightlife and also plenty of things to do during the day. Shopping is good.

My favourite place is the Quayside, especially at night as I think it is really pretty when it’s all lit up. I think Newcastle is a great city for students.

Spare time

I am a member of RockSoc so do things with that society. I spend a lot of time socialising and trying to visit places around the city.

Your future

I may do a Master's - although I quite fancy trying to get into the world of work!  I think I might want to do something to do with animal conservation, but I am going to see how I find my modules before I make a firm decision.
