Course dates: 2009 - 2012Choosing NewcastleI had visited a few times and got a really nice feeling about the city, I also found the people I met at the university to be very friendly and people that I would be happy with when I started my course. I also knew some people who were already students here who were having a really good time.

Studying at NewcastleI have really enjoyed my course. The third year modules are the most interesting for me. My course highlight was going on a residential field trip to Millport for a week, during which I got to know other people a lot better. Although the trip was very fun and sociable we also gained skills in practical data collection and general practise carrying out a scientific investigation. I am also doing a research project for my dissertation, I have enjoyed the freedom of being able to design and carry out the investigation on my own. I also feel a sense of pride and accomplishment having nearly completed it.

I can't really remember what my expectations were before I came to Newcastle. I think I was surprised how easy it is to meet new people and being able to get involved in anything!

The facilities are pretty good; the 3rd year computer room is really useful. The labs also have plenty of equipment that we have got to use over the years! Recap in lectures can also be very helpful.

Living in NewcastleThe city is compact, with plenty to do. Lots to get involved with and there seems to be something for just about everyone. There are always things going on, it is a lively interesting place. I feel like I still haven't seen it all even after 3 years living here.

I live in Heaton which is great; cheap with good pubs and is fairly close to university and the city centre!
