Course Dates: 2008 - 2012
I chose Newcastle because it was a good university with an outstanding social scene.
Studying at Newcastle
It's a good course with good lecturers. I spent an incredible year at the University of Vermont in America. I travelled all over the north east with the local rugby team.
Over Thanksgiving and Spring Break, I went on two amazing road trips with the guys I played rugby with.
The chemical knowledge I gained was invaluable toward my 4th year research project. I would tell everyone to consider a year abroad while at university, for both the experience and to separate yourself from the crowd in the job market.
Living in Newcastle
Newcastle has friendly people, excellent social scene and cheap rent.
I lived in student halls with other international students close to the dining halls, gym and university. It was basic student accommodation but was comfortable. I didn't spend a lot of time in my room besides sleeping.
Accommodation Tip - Don't annoy your neighbours and enjoy it.
Socialising at Newcastle
In my spare time I go to the gym, socialise and play rugby.
Best thing about Newcastle
Being given the opportunity to study abroad.
