Choosing Newcastle
I started this course in 2009. I found that the Medicinal Chemistry part of the course combined my love for chemistry with my interest in the pharmaceutical industry.
One of the main reasons why I chose to study at Newcastle was because of its reputation. Newcastle is a Russell Group University with good research and laboratory facilities. I have found that diversity of the course here at Newcastle is one of the main reasons why I find the course so enjoyable. One of the most engaging subject areas that I study is drugs and how the work within the body. It is very interesting to see how everyday drugs, that you had heard of before you came to University, actually look like chemically and how that relates to the function that they perform.
The lecturers here are also very engaging and always willing to answer any questions that you have. Newcastle University has also given me excellent laboratory experience, with a set of laboratory classes for each module.
Living in Newcastle
I also chose Newcastle because of its fantastically vibrant nightlife and social scene. From quiet, sophisticated bars to venues with huge dance floors and massive speakers, there are many different venues and I’m quite sure I’ve still got more to visit.
