Your Course

My course has lived up to my expectations. Lectures are all backed up with lab sessions and it gives the students a clear understanding of the subject. To learn the application of theoretical knowledge has a great importance for me and I think this course helps me to make the most of it.

Welcome Week

I took part in International Welcome Week and enjoyed every minute of it. The welcome week helped me settle in Newcastle easily and get to know people all from over the world. Social activities released the stress of starting a new life miles away from my country while introductory briefings provided me with a lot of information about university life.

Making Friends

Everyone in Newcastle is so friendly and helpful. Senior students are everywhere just to make sure everything goes smooth. It is really great to have a nice chat with people you have just met.

Language Support

I always try to talk to people to improve my English skills. Watching TV, listening to music are other activities I do. The University offers any student free English classes at varied levels and in different subjects. The Language Resources Centre is also another source to master a foreign language on your own.

Cost of Living

Newcastle is literally a student city. Food, house rents, and night life is cheap compared to other big cities. But in the end, we are all students and stick to a budget. I believe no one here has any problem financially as long as they spend their money wisely.

Living in Newcastle

It is basically a student city, so it is lively and full of entertainment. The night life is also great.

International Advice

The main things that I struggled with after I first arrived were the weather and food. I advise anyone coming from Turkey to bring lots of winter clothes and Turkish cuisine cookbooks.

Accommodation

I live in student accommodation and I really like living among lots of students. It provides me with a better social life and a friendly atmosphere.

Spare time

I have joined the University athletics team and in my spare time go training every day. I also go on field trips around Newcastle at weekends.

Best Thing

The best things about Newcastle are the quality education, the lovely city with its friendly atmosphere and of course the great nightlife.
