Jennifer Geography BA (Hons)

The first incentive to come to Newcastle was that it was a highly respected university, in a big city with lots going on.

My first impressions on the open day were brilliant; exciting, engaging and enthusiastic students and staff made the decision a lot easier. Newcastle University was definitely the best university for me.  I like the fact that the University is based within the city centre. It has a semi-campus style: it feels big but not daunting when you first arrive.

Another great, and unique, aspect of Newcastle geography is that we have a second year module devoted to developing your ideas for the final year Dissertation. This means that unlike most other degrees, Geography students are guided through the process of formulating research questions and methods so that the summer between second and third year can be used to do the research.  The staff are always flexible and open to all ideas, which are then focused and developed into dissertations.
