Samuel Marketing BSc Honours

Choosing Newcastle

I chose my course because I wanted to move to a large city, like my hometown Liverpool, which I have become used to. Also I liked the fact that the degree was a sandwich course which allowed me to take an Erasmus year and carry out my studies in a different language (Spanish) for a year.

Best thing about your course

I like that my degree is a BSc, unlike many other marketing degrees out there, which will distinguish me in the job market. Also my degree projects and assessments try to simulate real business situations (e.g. presentations), which gives me more confidence going into the workplace when I graduate.

Recommending Newcastle

This course incorporates a lot of different aspects of marketing from consumer behaviour to marketing communications. Assessments are varied and relevant to projects you may experience in real life business situations.

Describing Newcastle

Newcastle is a very lively city to live in and has something for everyone. There’s always something going on and it is very student friendly, with dedicated discount shopping and nights out just for students. The city centre is very compact and everything is relatively in walking distance.

Clubs and societies at Newcastle

There’s an array of clubs and societies that you can join, all offering a wide range of activities. They create a fun and enjoyable time for all members. Clubs and societies are a great opportunity to make new friends, and subject societies (e.g. the Marketing Society) provide a platform to meet with others on your course.

I was a member of the Marketing Society and we had the opportunity to go on nights out and have talks with experts within large organisations to learn more about marketing.
