Charlie Philosophical Studies: Knowledge and Human Interests BA Honours

Choosing Newcastle

I went to look around several universities and various courses and the second I got off the train in Newcastle I knew it was the place for me. I love the people, they are super friendly and I felt hugely welcomed from the off. The place really is incredible.

Best thing about your course

To be honest the tutors are superb, they make the course detailed and allow for independent study whilst making every aspect of the course articulate and clear to understand. My Personal Tutor, who also happens to be the course leader, is a truly inspiring person and has really made the academic part of my University experience enjoyable and fascinating.

Recommending Newcastle

The Philosophical Studies programme differs from any other in that it has a unique project which you undertake throughout your three years here. It allows you to tackle any subject area you like in relation to your studies and this gives a great opportunity to be independent and creative. As far as Newcastle goes, I guarantee that there is not one place you'll feel happier in and it is without questions the fun capital of the world!

Describing Newcastle

It really is just so much fun. The people are great and the city is jam-packed with great entertainment and opportunities. Whatever type of person you are, you will find something in Newcastle that is incredible and exciting. I echo those sentiments about the nightlife too!

Clubs and societies at Newcastle

I think the clubs and societies on offer here are fantastic. I personally run a football team in the intra-mural competitions and that has been both so enjoyable and great for getting me playing regular competitive football. I  became a member of the Comedy Society in my first year which has led to me having a part-time job as a stand up comedian.

Living in Newcastle

I am currently living in Jesmond with six other students. I love living in our house as it is such fun and I adore my housemates, truly my best friends. In terms of easiness to find accommodation, there will be many people who will tell you ‘it is hard to find accommodation’ and ‘sign early or you won’t have a house’. The truth is that finding a house is easy and most of the properties are well-maintain and very homely.
