Newcastle is one of the UK’s top tourist destinations and Visit Days are a great opportunity to sample all that the city has to offer.
Each Visit Day we welcome over 9,000 visitors to our campus and, as a result, the adjacent roads and car parks get very busy. We therefore recommend that where possible you use public transport to get to our campus. Visit Days are very popular so please book your place in advance.
For those wanting to travel by train to Newcastle, Newcastle Central station is only a 15 minute walk from the University, or two stops on the Metro light rail system.
The campus is situated in the heart of Newcastle city centre and has parking for disabled visitors only. If you require a disabled parking bay please contact us in advance. We therefore recommend you use one of the city-centre car parks which are within walking distance of the University, or use public transport where possible.
Newcastle International Airport is only seven miles from the city centre. A regular ferry service runs between North Shields (seven miles east of the city) and Amsterdam.
A very compact university, with a wide range of useful facilities and accommodation arrangements. I think Newcastle University would be a good place to study and live. The university is in good proximity to the city and coastal area which both appeal to me.
