Most of our staff are paid on incremental pay scales, determined through national pay bargaining. This means you can expect to receive an annual increment of 3%, as well as a national pay award, until you reach the scale maximum.
Beyond that point there is scope for further progression and one-off payments to reward outstanding performance. We regularly review our pay scales to ensure they are competitive.
Jobs are assigned fairly and transparently to a grade on the basis of job evaluation. Our policy on starting salaries recognises relevant qualifications and experience.
We offer an excellent, contributory, defined benefit pension scheme, and generous holiday provision of not less than 37 days, including public holidays and four fixed days around the Christmas/New Year period.
Full sick pay is available for up to six months, depending on service, and we have an Occupational Health Service to advise on measures to support return to work.
There are a wide range of discounts and other benefits available to staff, including:
plus a wide range of other University facilities.
