+Shopping, restaurants and culture
There are great places to eat and shop a short walk from campus:
- Eldon Square (Google Maps) is close by. It's one of the UK’s largest city-centre shopping centres with over 150 stores and cafés and restaurants.
- More restaurants, independent shops and galleries are on Grey Street (Google Maps) This beautiful street is full of listed buildings and Newcastle’s Theatre Royal.
- Take a walk, or ride the QuayLink bus, to the NewcastleGateshead Quayside (Google Maps). Discover restaurants and attractions, including the Sage Gateshead music centre, and the BALTIC, the biggest art gallery of its kind in the world.
- Newcastle’s very own Chinatown (Google Maps) is a short walk from the campus, close to Newcastle University Business School.

There are loads of places to visit if you have a bit more time:
- Jesmond - travel one stop on the Metro to a fashionable, leafy suburb of Newcastle. Many students choose to live here after first year. As well as boutiques, cafés and restaurants, you’ll find the gorgeous Jesmond Dene.
- Metrocentre - Europe’s largest indoor shopping and leisure centre, is just a 15-minute drive or 10-minute bus journey from the city centre.
- Tynemouth - a 25-minute Metro journey or 20-minute drive. A picturesque seaside village with Blue Flag beaches and a bustling weekend market in its Victorian-style Metro station. There are a handful of quaint shops and places to eat in the village centre.
