A Changing Cultures Working Group was established by University Executive Board in 2017 in response to the Universities UK (UUK) report on violence against women, harassment and hate crime affecting university students. The Working Group recommended a number of actions as part of a long term Implementation Plan.
A full-time officer has been appointed to take the Implementation Plan forward during 2018. However, a number of actions have already been completed, including:
- Basic awareness raising
- Consent training
- Signposting to information
- Asking new Undergraduate students to commit to a culture of respect as part of their formal induction programme
