Post
PostItems of post (letters and small parcels) delivered by Royal Mail will be delivered to your flat/floors shared post box located on the lower ground floor of your building. You can access your post box 24 hours a day using your key card. Remember to close the post box and lock it again with your key card once you’re done!
Parcels
ParcelsIf your parcels are too big for your letterbox, are delivered by a courier other than Royal Mail, or they require a signature, we will take them in at reception on your behalf, log them on our computer system, and store them for collection at reception. Please note, due to health and safety reasons, reception will not accept items that are too large/heavy for one person to handle.
Parcels are an extremely important and exciting part of student life, so we’d like to share a few tips to ensure you’re able to receive items as swiftly possible!
- Please wait for an email notification from Newcastle University, and not the courier/sender. As we receive hundreds of parcels per day, it can take a little bit of time to process them after the courier has delivered them, and our team will unfortunately be unable to locate your item until it has been logged and stored. If you haven’t received a notification within 24 hours of its delivery, then please don’t hesitate to visit us at reception to ensure there hasn’t been an IT issue.
- Please bring photographic ID (preferably your student ID as we can scan its barcode and save you a wait!)
- You can collect your parcels during our opening hours of 8.30am – 17.45pm Monday – Friday. This may mean that if you parcel is delivered late afternoon on Friday, it might not be ready for collection until Monday. We know how important it is that you get that textbook or outfit for the weekend, so if you need to get a parcel over the weekend you may be better to use a click and collect option nearby. Check out the list of options below.
- We aim to log parcels on the day of their delivery, however we’re not always able to process parcels that arrive in the late in afternoon. Our busiest periods tend to be Mondays, student loan payment periods, Black Friday/Cyber Monday and the weeks leading up to Christmas. If you urgently require a parcel and are unable to wait, check out the list of click and collect options nearby that might be a quicker option.
- Unfortunately, we are unable to accept food deliveries on your behalf, and couriers will be directed to deliver them directly to you. Make sure you make the company delivering aware of this, so your food doesn’t get left and go off!
- We’re unable to accept any prohibited items from the following list, as per your tenancy agreement, which can be found here.
- We can’t accept any items for you until you are checked in. Please refrain from ordering items to be delivered prior to your arrival as these may be rejected and returned to sender.
