Catered University AccommodationCatered University Accommodation
The catered package includes breakfast and evening meals on weekdays during term time. All of our food is freshly prepared by our in-house catering team, with healthy and indulgent options clearly signposted.
Choosing catered accommodation at Castle Leazes will make budgeting easier, means fewer trips to the supermarket and there's no washing up! You'll also have a small kitchen equipped with cooker, microwave, refrigerator, kettle and toaster where you can prepare drinks and light meals when catering isn't provided. An ironing board and vacuum cleaner are also included.
We don't include crockery, cutlery or cooking utensils so you'll need to bring these with you or, once you've arrived, share the cost with other students on the floor.
We can meet most dietary requirements but not all, so if you are specific about the food you like to eat you may prefer our self-catered accommodation. We are unable to offer Kosher, Vegan or Halal diets.
Castle Leazes also offers a range of other facilities such as a cafe bar, chill-out lounge and gaming area, TV room and computer cluster. Lively social events are organised to help new students make friends.
Catered accommodation offers a partial cleaning service, covering communal areas only (you are responsible for cleaning your own bedroom).

The self-catered option gives you space and equipment to prepare your own meals. You can cook your own meals, eat at one of the various EAT@NEWCASTLE outlets on campus or explore the many restaurants and cafes in Newcastle.
Kitchens are equipped with cookers, microwaves, refrigerators and freezers, ironing boards, vacuum cleaners, kettles and toasters. Crockery isn't automatically included in your accommodation, but you may have the opportunity to purchase items when you accept your accommodation contract, depending on where you will live. For more information, refer to our Accommodation Overview (PDF: 75KB) which details what each residence provides.
You'll live in a flat or corridor with a number of bedrooms sharing a central kitchen, common room and bathroom facilities if an en suite is not provided.
A small number of the self-catered residences offer larger communal areas where groups of students can gather together at the end of a hard day.
This type of accommodation offers a selection of partial cleaning services, covering a variety of communal areas only. You are responsible for cleaning your own bedroom and may be jointly responsible with your flatmates for the communal areas within your flat. For more information, refer to our Accommodation Overview (PDF: 75KB) which details what each residence provides in terms of a cleaning service.
