EAT@Castle Leazes offers good quality food and hassle-free meals with no need to cook after a busy day; to get an idea of what you can enjoy, take a look at our sample menus. Vending machines on site also provide sweets, snacks and drinks 24/7. 

Access and safety

Accommodation is arranged in a number of buildings ranging from four to nine floors around courtyards. Lifts are available in four of the buildings. 

We take the safety of our students very seriously and Estates Security Officers patrol our accommodation to ensure your peace of mind.

A Residences Manager is responsible for Residential Services as well as welfare and discipline and a Customer Services Manager is responsible for Reception Services.

Your contract

Castle Leazes is University-owned accommodation.

2021-2022 residents

The contract is a fixed term period of 39 weeks and covers the duration of the academic year. Rents are charged per day, so if your contract differs to the standard dates above (i.e. earlier arrival), you will incur additional accommodation charges at the relevant daily rate.

All utility bills are included; WiFi is free, and we also provide Personal Possessions Insurance.

Reception opening times

From Monday 20 September Reception will be operating the following hours:

Reception doors are open Monday to Friday, 08.30 – 17.45 and the Customer Services team can also be contacted by telephone and email from 08.00 – 18.00.

Please note that due to the ongoing Covid 19 situation, our normal reception opening hours are subject to change.  Any changes from the hours stated here will be communicated to our residents and signage showing the new opening hours will be displayed by the reception entrance.

Entry to Castle Leazes is made through Fountain Row.

Here you will be greeted by a friendly face who will signpost where you need to go.

Once you have reached the designated area please remain in your car. Make sure you have your photographic ID and key release form ready to show to a member of our team.

A member of the Customer Services team will come to your car. Please keep show them your photographic ID and key release from. The team member will provide your key pack, you will then be guided to your nearest drop off point.

Please remember that you must have vacated the drop off point by the end of your time slot to allow others to arrive on site.

The Customer Services team will be available to help with queries from 0800 - 1900 on Saturday 11 Friday 17, Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 September.

The Customer Service team will also be available from 0900 – 1300 on Sunday 12 September, to support with queries if you arrived on 11 September.

Reception will revert to normal opening hours of 0800 – 1800 Monday to Friday (Doors open 0830 – 1745) from Monday 20 September.

Out of hours key collection 

If you expect to arrive outside of opening hours and need to collect your key on arrival, you'll need to contact our Estates Security Office on +44 (0) 191 208 6817. Security Officers will arrange to meet and give you your key and you will be asked to show a copy of your Accommodation Acceptance with details of your room allocation.
